7 Days 6 Nights Kashmir Honeymoon Itinerary
ARRIVE SRINAGAR — MUGHAL GARDENS, SHIKARA RIDE & HOUSEBOAT ROMANCE
Day one is about arrival and romance. Your dedicated Travel My Kashmir representative meets you at Srinagar Airport with a warm welcome and transfers you to your traditional Kashmiri houseboat on Dal Lake a floating palace of carved walnut wood, Persian carpets and hand-embroidered fabrics. This is your first home in Paradise.
After freshening up, the afternoon takes you through Srinagar’s most beloved romantic destinations:
- Nishat Bagh (Garden of Joy) — Twelve terraced lawns cascading toward Dal Lake, designed by Asaf Khan in 1633. The rose garden, the marble fountains, and the view of the lake and Zabarwan mountains create a backdrop for couple photography that is genuinely hard to better anywhere in India.
- Shalimar Bagh (Garden of Love) — Emperor Jehangir’s gift to Queen Noor Jahan in 1619. Four ascending terraces, ancient chinar trees over 400 years old, black marble water channels, and the scent of jasmine in the air. The most romantic Mughal garden in existence.
- Chashme Shahi (Royal Spring) — The smallest of the three great Mughal gardens, but the most intimate. The natural spring here is said to have medicinal properties. The elevated position gives sweeping views of the entire Dal Lake basin.
- Boulevard Road Evening Walk — Srinagar’s 8 km lakeside promenade glows at golden hour. The snow peaks turn pink and orange as the sun sets, and the reflections on Dal Lake are so perfect they look painted.
As dusk falls, step aboard your private Shikara for a 1-hour romantic glide across Dal Lake. Your gondolier rows slowly past lotus gardens, floating vegetable markets, and houseboats strung with coloured lights — a scene so beautiful it feels unreal. As you return, your houseboat room has been transformed: rose petals trail across the bed, fairy lights glow softly, a honeymoon cake sits waiting, and the table is set for a candlelight dinner of Kashmiri Wazwan cuisine.
- Full Floral Room Decoration — rose petals, fairy lights, balloons
- Candlelight Dinner on houseboat — Wazwan menu with Kahwa tea
- Honeymoon Surprise Cake with personal message
- Welcome Badaam Milk — traditional Kashmiri spiced almond drink
- Surprise Welcome Hamper Kashmiri dry fruits, saffron & gift note
DAY 2: SRINAGAR TO GULMARG — GONDOLA, SNOW & HIGH-ALTITUDE ROMANCE
After a leisurely houseboat breakfast with views of Dal Lake waking up in the morning mist, check out and move to your Srinagar hotel before heading to Gulmarg. The drive through the outskirts of Srinagar, past apple orchards and pine-covered ridgelines, builds anticipation beautifully and then suddenly, the road crests a hill and Gulmarg appears below you a vast, flat, impossibly green meadow (or white in winter) ringed by snow-clad peaks. It is one of the most dramatic first sights in all of Indian travel.
Your full day in Gulmarg:
- Gulmarg Gondola — Phase 1 (Kongdori, 8,530 ft): The cable car lifts you above the treeline into a world of pure white and silence. Panoramic views of the Pir Panjal and Himalayan ranges open up on all sides. For most couples, this is the first time they have seen the world from this height and it’s humbling.
- Gulmarg Gondola — Phase 2 (Apharwat Peak, 13,780 ft): The second stage takes you to one of the world’s highest accessible peaks by cable car. Snow is permanent at this altitude. The view takes in peaks that extend into Pakistan and China. An extraordinary experience for couples who love altitude and adventure.
- Snow Play: Sledging, snowball fights, snow sculpting unbridled joy at 13,000 feet. Photographs here are unlike anything you will take anywhere else in India.
- Horse Riding on Gulmarg Meadow: A slow ride across the famous 3 km golf course meadow, with mountains rising on every side. One of the most classically romantic activities in Kashmir.
- Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve Walk: For couples who prefer quiet, the forest trails around Gulmarg offer pine-scented solitude, birdsong, and occasional views of the snow peaks through the canopy.
- St. Mary’s Church: A beautifully preserved 1895 colonial church nestled in the meadow — stone walls, wooden interior and a graveyard of British-era graves. Atmospheric and unique.
- Alpather Lake (optional, June–August): A high-altitude glacial lake a short trek from Apharwat Peak, partially frozen even in summer. Remarkable for adventurous couples.
Return to Srinagar by evening. Dinner at your hotel. Rest well tomorrow you head south to the Valley of Shepherds.
DAY 3: SRINAGAR TO PAHALGAM — BETAAB VALLEY, ARU VALLEY & LIDDER RIVERSIDE
The drive to Pahalgam is one of the great scenic road journeys of India saffron fields (October), the wide Jhelum River, the ancient ruins of Avantipura, timber-merchant villages and then the gradual ascent through pine forests as the road follows the Lidder River upstream into the mountains. By the time you arrive in Pahalgam, the air has changed cooler, pine-scented, tinged with the sound of rushing water.
Pahalgam sits at 2,130 metres above sea level in the Anantnag district, at the confluence of the Lidder and Sheshnag rivers. It is a place of extraordinary natural beauty wide meadows, dense pine forests, dramatic ridgelines and rivers of startling clarity.
Your Pahalgam day:
- Betaab Valley — 15 km from Pahalgam, named after the 1983 Bollywood film shot here entirely. A wide, flat-bottomed valley with a snow-fed stream running through meadows of emerald green, forested ridges on all sides and the jagged peaks of the Himalaya visible at the valley head. The most photographed romantic location in all of Kashmir.
- Aru Valley — 12 km from Pahalgam in the opposite direction, Aru is quieter and more expansive than Betaab. Wide meadows, grazing horses, the Aru stream and the distant glimmer of the Kolahoi glacier (Kashmir’s largest). An ideal spot for a long, unhurried walk together.
- Chandanwari — 16 km from Pahalgam, the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra. The natural snow bridge here (April–July) over the Lidder River is a remarkable geological feature stand on ancient, compressed snow as the river roars beneath you.
- Lidder River Evening Walk — As the light softens in late afternoon, walk along the riverbank through Pahalgam town. The river here is wide, clear and fast cold enough that you feel it from metres away. One of Kashmir’s most naturally soothing settings.
Overnight stay in Pahalgam — dinner at your hotel with mountain views. The quietness of a Pahalgam night, with only the river audible, is something city couples find deeply affecting.
DAY 4: PAHALGAM TO SONMARG — GLACIERS, RIVERS & THE MEADOW OF GOLD
The drive from Pahalgam to Sonmarg via Srinagar covers nearly the full breadth of the Kashmir Valley and is itself a journey worth savouring. You descend from Pahalgam’s pine-covered ridges back into the valley floor, cross Srinagar and then begin climbing again along the Sindh River toward Sonmarg in Ganderbal district, where the landscape gradually hardens and heightens into true alpine territory: fewer trees, more rock, more sky and everywhere the gleam of permanent snow.
Sonmarg — ‘Meadow of Gold’ at 2,730 metres is named for the golden wildflowers that blanket its meadows in June and July. In other seasons it glows differently: silver with snow in winter, rust and amber in autumn, vivid green in early summer. At any time of year, the scale and drama of its mountain setting is breathtaking.
Your Sonmarg day:
- Thajiwas Glacier — The centrepiece of Sonmarg and one of the most dramatic natural features accessible to visitors in all of Kashmir. Reach it by pony ride through birch forest or on foot (20–30 minutes). The glacier is a river of ancient blue-grey ice, compressed over millennia, with walls of ice rising metres above you. Walk on it, touch it, photograph each other against its vast blue-white face. Nothing quite prepares you for the scale of it.
- Glacier Meltwater Lakes — Small, intensely turquoise lakes have formed at the glacier’s edge where meltwater pools. Stunning for photography, especially in morning light.
- Sindh River — The glacial Sindh River flows through Sonmarg’s valley with tremendous force. Sit on its boulder-strewn banks and feel the cold spray. The roar of glacial water is one of the most powerful natural sounds in the valley.
- Sonmarg Meadow Walk — The wide, open meadow allows for long walks in any direction with 360-degree mountain views. In summer it is lined with wildflowers, in winter it becomes a pure snowfield. Profoundly peaceful.
- Zoji La Views — On clear days, the road toward Zoji La Pass (the gateway to Ladakh) is visible from Sonmarg. The sight of this high mountain pass against the blue sky is striking.
- Trout Fishing (optional) — The Sindh River here supports wild brown trout. Rented rods available locally a calm, romantic activity for couples who enjoy nature at its most elemental.
- Day tour to the Zero point. (optional)
Return to Srinagar by early evening. Overnight at your hotel a quieter night in the city before tomorrow’s departure to Doodhpathri.
DAY 5: DOODHPATHRI — THE VALLEY OF MILK, SILENCE & WILDFLOWERS
Day 5 is where this 7-day Kashmir honeymoon package earns its reputation as the most complete romantic itinerary in Kashmir. While most tourists never make it to Doodhpathri content to repeat the Gulmarg–Pahalgam–Sonmarg circuit couples who do consistently say it is their favourite day of the entire trip.
Doodhpathri — ‘Valley of Milk’ in Kashmiri — lies in the Budgam district, just 42 km southwest of Srinagar at an altitude of 2,730 metres. It is named for the extraordinary visual phenomenon that defines it: streams that flow so fast over pale limestone and clay that the water turns a frothy, milky white — a natural spectacle found almost nowhere else in the world.
What awaits you in Doodhpathri:
- The Milk-White Streams — The valley’s defining feature. Fast-flowing mountain streams tumble over pale riverbed rocks, creating a frothy white rush of water that catches the light beautifully. Photographs here are extraordinary the white water against the green meadow, blue sky and snow peaks is a composition that takes your breath away.
- Wildflower Meadows (April–August) — In spring and early summer, Doodhpathri is carpeted with wildflowers: yellow buttercups, purple irises, white daisies and countless unnamed species that paint the meadow in colour. Walking through them together is one of Kashmir’s most genuinely romantic experiences.
- Pine and Fir Forest Walks — Dense conifer forests border the meadow on all sides. The trails through them are quiet, cool, and fragrant dappled light filtering through the canopy, the sound of birdsong and distant water. Perfect for couples who want real solitude.
- 360-Degree Himalayan Views — Surrounded by snow-capped peaks on all sides, Doodhpathri offers panoramic mountain views from anywhere in the meadow. A landscape photographer’s dream and a naturally romantic setting.
- Private Picnic by the Stream — We can arrange a private picnic lunch with Kashmiri specialties served by the milky stream. Perhaps the most romantic meal setting in all of Kashmir no restaurant can compete with this.
- Complete Quiet — Unlike every other destination on this itinerary, Doodhpathri sees almost no commercial tourism. There are no souvenir shops, no aggressive vendors, no tour buses. Just the meadow, the mountains, the streams, and each other.
Return to Srinagar by afternoon or early evening. You can rest at your hotel or go for a sunset walk along Boulevard Road and a final dinner at one of Srinagar’s celebrated restaurants.
DAY 6: YUSMARG — THE MEADOW OF JESUS, NILNAG LAKE & ALPINE SERENITY
Day 6 brings you to Yusmarg, the destination that sets this 7-day package completely apart from everything else in the Kashmir honeymoon market. Yusmarg is Kashmir’s best-kept secret: a highland meadow of extraordinary beauty that sees a fraction of the visitors that Gulmarg or Pahalgam attract, yet rivals them both in natural drama and romantic atmosphere.
The name ‘Yusmarg‘ is derived from ‘Yus’ (Jesus) and ‘Marg’ (Meadow) — the ‘Meadow of Jesus.’ Local tradition holds that Jesus Christ passed through this valley during his years in the East, and the name has stayed. Whether or not you believe the legend, the name captures something true about the place: it has a quality of otherworldly peace that feels almost sacred.
Yusmarg sits at 2,400 metres in the Budgam district, about 47 km from Srinagar. Surrounded by dense pine and fir forests, the meadow opens out into a wide, flat expanse with the snow peaks of the Pir Panjal range on one side and the forest on the other. The River Doodhganga runs through it another milky mountain stream.
What makes Yusmarg unforgettable for a honeymoon couple:
- Nilnag Lake — A high-altitude lake a 5 km trek (or pony ride) from Yusmarg meadow, sitting at the base of the snow peaks. The lake’s water is a deep, still blue reflecting the surrounding mountains and sky. The trek through the forest to reach it is itself deeply beautiful: birch and pine, moss and wildflowers, absolute silence except for birdsong and wind. Arriving at the lake is one of those travel moments that etches itself permanently into memory.
- Doodhganga River — Another milky-white mountain stream flows through the meadow, similar to Doodhpathri. Sitting by it, skipping stones or simply watching the white water rush past is a meditation in natural beauty.
- Yusmarg Meadow — Wide open, unobstructed and almost always quiet. The meadow is ideal for long, unhurried walks. In spring it is covered with wildflowers; in autumn with golden grass; in winter with snow. Horses often graze freely across it — a timeless pastoral scene.
- Pony Ride to the Snowline (seasonal) — In spring and early summer, snow still lies at the meadow’s upper edges. A pony ride to the snowline and back is a classic Yusmarg experience, with mountain views expanding as you climb.
- Forest Canopy Picnic — Dense forest surrounds the meadow on three sides. We can arrange a private picnic lunch at the forest edge cool shade, birdsong, the scent of pine and mountain views. A deeply romantic setting.
- Complete Absence of Crowds — Yusmarg’s greatest gift. On most days, you will share this enormous, beautiful meadow with almost no one. It is a level of privacy in nature that is increasingly rare in India’s tourist circuit.
Return to Srinagar by late afternoon. Your last evening in Kashmir make it memorable. A sunset Shikara ride on Dal Lake, dinner at a restaurant overlooking the water and one last slow walk along Boulevard Road as the mountains darken and the stars appear.
DAY 7: SRINAGAR LOCAL SIGHTSEEING, SHOPPING & DEPARTURE
Seven days of Kashmir and even now, as you prepare to leave, the valley offers one more morning of beauty. After a leisurely breakfast, you have a few final hours in Srinagar before your flight time to visit any remaining spots, do your last shopping and say a slow goodbye to the valley.
Suggested final morning:
- Shankaracharya Temple — Perched on a hill 1,000 feet above Dal Lake, this ancient Shiva temple (dating to 371 BC) commands the most panoramic view of Srinagar available from any single point. The city spread below, the lake shimmering, the Himalayas on the horizon a profoundly moving final image of Kashmir.
- Floating Vegetable Market (early morning) — Dawn on Dal Lake, farmers trading fresh vegetables from boat to boat in the quiet morning mist. One of the most uniquely Kashmiri experiences available and something visitors remember for decades.
- Hazratbal Shrine — The elegant white marble mosque on Dal Lake’s northern shore, housing a revered relic. Peaceful, architecturally beautiful, and serene in the morning light.
- Shopping — Lal Chowk, Polo View Market, or Residency Road for: Pashmina shawls (the world’s finest wool), Kashmiri saffron (₹200–300 per gram for premium grade), hand-carved walnut wood décor and jewellery boxes, paper maché items with traditional Kashmiri motifs, Kashmiri carpets (silk on silk or wool), and premium dry fruits.
- Dal Lake Breakfast Shikara (if not done earlier) — A final morning Shikara ride with breakfast served on the water — one of the most distinctly Kashmiri experiences possible, and a beautiful way to say goodbye to Dal Lake.
Your Travel My Kashmir Travel agency representative will collect you from your hotel and ensure a smooth, timely transfer to Srinagar Airport. As the plane climbs and banks westward, you watch Kashmir’s mountains, valleys and lakes shrink below and you understand, perhaps for the first time, why they call it Paradise on Earth. You will want to come back.

Frequently Asked Questions — Kashmir Honeymoon Package 7 Days 6 Nights
How much does a 7-day Kashmir honeymoon package cost?
The 7-day Kashmir honeymoon package from Travel My Kashmir starts at ₹41,999 for 3-star accommodation including 1 night Dal Lake houseboat stay. Contact us for a customized quote.
What does the 7-day Kashmir honeymoon package include that shorter packages don't?
The 7-day package adds Yusmarg (Day 6) Kashmir’s most peaceful and least-visited romantic valley which is not covered in any 4, 5, or 6-day package. It also adds Doodhpathri (Day 5) which is only included in the 6-day package. Together, these two offbeat destinations provide a depth of Kashmir experience that simply cannot be achieved in shorter itineraries. The 7-day pace also allows for more time at each destination, an overnight in Pahalgam, and a relaxed final morning in Srinagar.
Is Yusmarg worth visiting for a honeymoon?
Yusmarg is, for many couples, the highlight of their entire Kashmir trip which surprises them, because it’s not on the standard tourist circuit. The Nilnag Lake trek, the Doodhganga stream, the wildflower meadows and above all the complete absence of crowds create an atmosphere of genuine romantic solitude that is increasingly rare in Indian tourism. If you have 7 days, Yusmarg is non-negotiable.
Can the 7-day Kashmir honeymoon itinerary be customized?
Absolutely. Every day of the itinerary can be modified. Popular customizations include: replacing Yusmarg with Gurez Valley (more remote, requires overnight), replacing Doodhpathri with a Srinagar spa day, adding a second Pahalgam overnight, upgrading the houseboat to a Nigeen Lake premium property, adding a professional photoshoot day, or extending to an 8-day package. Contact our team and we’ll redesign the itinerary around your preferences.
What is the best month for a 7-day Kashmir honeymoon?
Our top recommendations: April (Tulip Festival + spring blooms across all six destinations), May (wildflowers at Doodhpathri and Yusmarg at peak, snow still on Gulmarg), October (golden chinar season, thinner crowds, cooler and cleaner air) and June (all destinations fully open, snow accessible at Sonmarg and Gulmarg). Each of these months offers something distinctive the choice depends on whether you prefer flowers, snow, or autumn colours.
How far in advance should we book the 7-day Kashmir honeymoon package?
We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance for off-peak months (September–November, February–March) and 2–3 months in advance for peak season (April–June, December–January). Popular houseboat properties and Pahalgam riverside hotels book up quickly during peak months. A 25–30% advance deposit confirms your booking; the balance is payable on arrival in Srinagar.
Is it safe to visit Yusmarg and Doodhpathri?
Yes, both Yusmarg and Doodhpathri are completely safe for tourist visits and are popular day-trip destinations from Srinagar. They are located in the Budgam district, which has a long history of peaceful tourism. Your private cab driver will be familiar with both routes, and our team monitors local conditions in real time. These destinations are genuinely off the beaten path, but entirely safe and accessible.
