Detailed Itinerary: 7 Nights 8 Days
DAY 1: ARRIVE SRINAGAR — MUGHAL GARDENS, BOULEVARD ROAD & HOUSEBOAT WELCOME
| Srinagar | Overnight: Dal Lake Houseboat
Day one is about arrival and immersion stepping out of an airport and into Paradise. Your dedicated Travel My Kashmir representative meets you at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport with a warm welcome board and transfers you to your handpicked traditional Kashmiri houseboat on Dal Lake, where carved walnut wood panelling, Persian carpets and hand-embroidered silk curtains await. This is your first Kashmir home and it is magnificent.
After freshening up, your afternoon moves through Srinagar’s most iconic romantic landmarks at an unhurried pace:
- Nishat Bagh (Garden of Joy, 1633 AD) — Twelve terraced lawns descending to Dal Lake’s edge, each terrace a different garden with different flowers, fountains, and views. Emperor Asaf Khan designed it to be viewed from the water — and from the water, it is extraordinary.
- Shalimar Bagh (Garden of Love, 1619 AD) — Jehangir built this for Noor Jahan — the most romantic act of garden creation in Indian history. Black marble channels, cascading waterfalls, ancient chinar trees with canopies wide enough to shade a hundred people. The most beautiful Mughal garden in existence.
- Chashme Shahi (Royal Spring) — The intimate, elevated garden with a natural medicinal spring. From its highest terrace, the full panorama of Dal Lake and the Zabarwan range spreads out below you. A perfect sunset spot.
- Boulevard Road Evening Walk — Srinagar’s 8 km lakeside promenade at golden hour: the peaks of the Zabarwan mountains turn ochre and rose, and the reflections on Dal Lake are so perfect they look like a painting has been laid on the water.
As evening deepens, board your private decorated Shikara for a 1-hour romantic glide across Dal Lake. You return to your houseboat to find the room transformed: rose petals across the bed and floor, fairy lights glowing warm, a honeymoon cake waiting on the table, and a candlelight Wazwan dinner laid out on your private deck.
- Full Floral Decoration — rose petals, fairy lights, balloons, rangoli at door
- Candlelight Dinner on houseboat deck — 7-course Kashmiri Wazwan with Kehwa
- Honeymoon Surprise Cake — personalized with your names and wedding date
- Welcome Badaam Milk — warm, spiced almond drink, traditional Kashmiri welcome
- Kashmiri Welcome Hamper — premium dry fruits, saffron, hand-written love note from our team
DAY 2: SRINAGAR TO GULMARG — GONDOLA, APHARWAT PEAK & SNOW ROMANCE
| Gulmarg (54 km | ~1.5 hrs) | Overnight: Srinagar Hotel
After a leisurely houseboat breakfast with morning mist still lying across Dal Lake, check out and move to your Srinagar hotel before heading to Gulmarg Asia’s most beautiful meadow resort and the destination that appears on every Kashmir honeymoon inspiration board. The drive through pine-clad ridges and apple orchards builds anticipation perfectly and then the road crests and Gulmarg opens up, a vast circular meadow ringed by snow giants. Very few travel moments in India match this first sight.
Your full Gulmarg day:
- Gulmarg Gondola Phase 1 — Kongdori (8,530 ft): The cable car lifts you silently above the treeline into a world of pure white and silence. 360-degree views of the Pir Panjal and main Himalayan ranges. For most couples, the first moment of arriving at a place where the mountains are below you rather than around you.
- Gulmarg Gondola Phase 2 — Apharwat Peak (13,780 ft): The world’s second-highest cable car. Snow is permanent and thick at this altitude regardless of season. The views extend into Pakistan, China, and Central Asia on clear days. A truly staggering experience.
- Snow Adventures — Sledging, snowball fights, snow sculpting. Photographs taken at Apharwat Peak against the backdrop of the Himalayan range are unlike any others you will take in India.
- Alpather Lake (May–September) — A short trek from Apharwat, this high-altitude glacial lake is partially frozen even in July. The silence here is total. Surrounded by permanent snow, the lake reflects the sky in shades of cobalt. Extraordinary.
- Gulmarg Meadow Horse Ride — A slow, romantic ride across the famous 3 km golf course meadow with the mountains rising on every side.
- St. Mary’s Church (1895) — A beautifully preserved colonial church in the meadow — stone walls, carved wooden interior, atmosphere of a different era.
- Biosphere Reserve Forest Walk — Pine trails through the reserve for couples who prefer silence and birdsong to gondola queues.
Return to Srinagar by evening. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. Tomorrow you head south into the Valley of Shepherds.
DAY 3: SRINAGAR TO PAHALGAM — BETAAB VALLEY, ARU VALLEY & OVERNIGHT IN THE MOUNTAINS
| Pahalgam (95 km | ~2.5 hrs) | Overnight: Pahalgam
The drive to Pahalgam is one of India’s great scenic road journeys. From Srinagar you pass through vast saffron fields that turn brilliant purple in October, the ancient temple ruins of Avantipura dating to the 9th century, willow-lined riverbanks along the Jhelum, and a series of timber-trading villages before the road begins climbing through dense pine forest, following the Lidder River upstream into the mountains. The air changes as you climb and becoming cooler, damper, carrying the scent of pine resin and river water.
Pahalgam at 2,130 metres is where Kashmir’s landscape shifts from valley grandeur to intimate mountain beauty. Wide meadows, glacier-fed rivers, pine-forested ridges and peaks that seem close enough to touch. For couples spending two nights here (unique to this 8-day package), there is time to see everything without hurrying and time to simply be in the mountains together.
- Betaab Valley — 15 km from Pahalgam, named for the 1983 Bollywood film shot entirely on location here. A wide, flat-bottomed valley with a crystalline snow-fed stream, emerald meadows and forested ridges on all sides. The single most photographed romantic landscape in Kashmir. In spring and summer, wildflowers line the stream banks. In autumn, the surrounding forest turns gold and crimson.
- Aru Valley — 12 km in the opposite direction, Aru is quieter and more expansive than Betaab. Open meadows, grazing horses, the Aru stream, and the distant glimmer of the Kolahoi Glacier (Kashmir’s largest at 13 km). The valley has a scale and openness that inspires long, comfortable silences between couples.
- Chandanwari — 16 km from Pahalgam, the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra. Features a natural snow bridge (April–July) over the Lidder River — stand on ancient compressed snow as the river roars below. A geological marvel.
- Lidder River Evening — As light softens, walk along the Lidder through Pahalgam town. Wide, clear, and fast, the river carries the cold of the glaciers it comes from. The sound of it at dusk, combined with the quiet of the mountains, is deeply calming.
Overnight in Pahalgam dinner at your hotel with mountain views from the window. A Pahalgam night is quieter than anywhere you have slept in years: only the river audible, the stars thick overhead. Sleep deeply.
DAY 4: PAHALGAM LEISURE DAY — BAISARAN MEADOW & MINI SWITZERLAND
Day 4 is what makes the 8-day package truly distinctive: a full second day in Pahalgam unhurried, unscheduled and entirely yours. While every shorter package rushes through Pahalgam as a single day trip, you have the luxury of exploring what most honeymooners never reach and of spending a slow day in the mountains that is not about sightseeing at all.
Your second Pahalgam day options choose what calls to you:
- Baisaran Meadow (‘Mini Switzerland’) — A high meadow 5 km from Pahalgam town, reached by pony ride or a 1.5-hour trek. At 2,400 metres, Baisaran sits in a wide open bowl of pine forest with the snow peaks of the Himalaya visible on the horizon. It is one of the most beautiful and least-crowded viewpoints in all of Kashmir. The pony ride up through dense pine forest, with dappled light and birdsong, is itself a romantic experience.
- Kolahoi Glacier Viewpoint — For more adventurous couples, a longer pony or trekking route from Aru Valley offers views of the Kolahoi Glacier Kashmir’s largest and most majestic. The approach through high-altitude meadows and moraines is exceptional.
- Pahalgam Local Village Walk — Walk through the small Kashmiri villages that surround Pahalgam town: wooden houses with elaborately carved window frames, apple orchards, women weaving in doorways, children playing in the lanes. A deeply human Kashmir that most tourists miss entirely.
- Lidder River Trout Fishing — The Lidder River is one of India’s finest trout fishing rivers. Rented rods and local guides are available at the river bank. Sit on the boulders, cast your line into the clear cold water and let the river do the rest. One of the most peaceful activities two people can share in nature.
- Full Leisure Day — Do nothing. Sit on your hotel balcony with Kahwa tea and watch the mountains change colour through the day. Walk to the river and sit on the bank. Read. Sleep in the afternoon. Let the mountains teach you how to be still. This is the luxury that shorter packages cannot offer and money alone cannot buy: time.
Evening in Pahalgam dinner at your hotel, perhaps a walk through the lit town bazaar and another deep mountain night under the stars.
DAY 5: PAHALGAM TO SONMARG — THAJIWAS GLACIER, SINDH RIVER & MEADOW OF GOLD
| Sonmarg (130 km from Pahalgam | ~3.5 hrs) | Overnight: Srinagar
After two unhurried days in Pahalgam, the drive to Sonmarg via Srinagar takes you across nearly the full breadth of the Kashmir Valley a journey of constantly changing landscape. You descend from the pine ridges of Pahalgam into the valley floor, cross the city of Srinagar and then begin climbing again along the Sindh River toward Sonmarg, where the landscape hardens and heightens into true alpine territory. The trees thin, the rock increases, the sky becomes bluer and closer and the snow peaks multiply until they surround you completely.
Sonmarg — ‘Meadow of Gold’ at 2,730 metres is where Kashmir’s scale becomes genuinely Himalayan. The mountains here are not backdrop they are the entire world. Named for the golden wildflowers carpeting its meadows in June and July, Sonmarg is extraordinary in every season: white in winter, vivid green in early summer, gold and amber in autumn.
- Thajiwas Glacier — The centrepiece of Sonmarg and one of the most dramatic natural features accessible in all of Kashmir. A pony ride through birch forest or a 30-minute walk brings you to the face of the glacier — ancient blue-grey ice compressed over millennia, with walls rising metres above you. Walk on it. Touch its face. The scale of it is humbling in a way that photographs cannot fully convey.
- Glacier Meltwater Lakes — Intensely turquoise pools have formed at the glacier’s margins where meltwater collects and stills. In morning light, the colour of these lakes against the surrounding rock and ice is extraordinary.
- Sindh River — The glacial Sindh flows through Sonmarg’s valley with tremendous speed and noise. Sit on its boulder banks, feel the cold spray, and listen to the roar of ancient glacier water becoming river. Trout fishing available for adventurous couples.
- Sonmarg Meadow — Wide and open in every direction, the meadow allows for long, free walks with 360-degree mountain views. In summer, wildflowers line every path; in spring, patches of snow still cross the meadow; in autumn, the grass turns rust and amber.
- Zoji La Pass Views — The gateway to Ladakh is visible from Sonmarg on clear days — a dramatic high mountain pass that signals the end of the Kashmir Valley and the beginning of Central Asian landscape. The sight of it against the blue sky is striking.
Return to Srinagar by evening. Overnight at your hotel — a quieter night in the city before tomorrow’s journey to the Valley of Milk.
DAY 6: DOODHPATHRI (THE VALLEY OF MILK) RETURN TO SRINAGAR
Doodhpathri (Morning — 42 km from Srinagar, ~1.5 hrs)
Doodhpathri — ‘Valley of Milk’ in Kashmiri is named for the extraordinary visual phenomenon that defines it. streams flowing so fast over pale limestone and clay that the water turns a frothy, brilliant white. Located at 2,730 metres in the Budgam district, it is one of Kashmir’s most beautiful and most consistently overlooked destinations.
- The Milk-White Streams — The valley’s defining feature and its most photographed subject. Fast-flowing mountain water over pale riverbed creates a frothy white rush that catches light dramatically. Against the green meadow and blue sky, the images are genuinely stunning.
- Wildflower Meadows — In spring and early summer, Doodhpathri is carpeted with buttercups, irises, daisies and dozens of unnamed wildflower species. Walking through them together is one of Kashmir’s most genuinely enchanting experiences.
- Pine Forest Walks — Cool, fragrant, absolutely silent forest borders the meadow on all sides. The trails are well-worn but rarely crowded.
- Private Picnic Lunch by the Stream — We arrange a private picnic at the stream’s edge: Kashmiri specialties, fresh mountain air, white water rushing past, no one else in sight. The most romantic lunch setting in Kashmir.
Yusmarg (Afternoon — 47 km from Srinagar, ~1.5 hrs)
After your Doodhpathri picnic, drive to Yusmarg — the ‘Meadow of Jesus’ — for the afternoon. The transition between the two valleys, both at similar altitude and with similar milky-stream characteristics but distinctly different landscapes, is one of the more magical travel experiences Kashmir offers.
- Yusmarg Meadow — Wide, flat, and almost always empty. Dense pine and fir forest on three sides, the Pir Panjal snow range in the distance, the Doodhganga stream flowing across the meadow floor. A landscape of extraordinary peaceful beauty.
- Nilnag Lake (if time permits) — A 5 km pony ride or trek from the meadow leads to this high-altitude glacial lake. On a clear afternoon, the lake reflects the surrounding peaks in still, deep blue water. The forest trail to it is beautiful in its own right.
- Doodhganga River Sit — Another milky-white mountain stream, similar to Doodhpathri’s. Sit by it in the afternoon light as the meadow empties of the few visitors who came in the morning.
- Complete Solitude — By mid-afternoon, both Doodhpathri and Yusmarg are essentially empty. The meadows are yours. This level of private access to such beautiful natural landscapes is rare in Indian tourism.
Return to Srinagar by early evening. Tonight is special — a mid-trip romantic evening. Arrange a surprise candlelight dinner at one of Srinagar’s finest restaurants overlooking Dal Lake, or a private Shikara dinner on the lake itself.
DAY 7: YUSMARG (THE HIDDEN JEWEL) RETURN TO SRINAGAR

Can we customize this to include a night in Sonamarg?
Yes. Since you have 8 days, we can easily swap one night in Srinagar for a night in Sonamarg to experience the glacier sunrise.
What makes Yusmarg special for honeymooners?
Privacy. While Gulmarg is famous, Yusmarg is peaceful. It’s the perfect place to escape the crowds and enjoy the raw, natural beauty of the valley.
What is the best time for a Kashmir honeymoon?
The best time for a Kashmir honeymoon depends on your preferences. Spring (March to May) offers blooming gardens and pleasant weather. Summer (June to August) is ideal for lush green landscapes and comfortable temperatures.
