Do I need a permit for Gurez Valley?

or Indian nationals, there is no need to get any kind of specific permission or permit to visit Gurez Valley. However, it is mandatory to carry a valid government-issued photo identification (like an Aadhaar card) as it will be required at various military checkpoints. Foreign nationals now require a special permit to visit Gurez Valley, which can be obtained by submitting a request to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Bandipora or through an approved travel agency, typically 3-4 days in advance of their visit.

Indian tourists need a government-issued ID (Aadhaar, DL, Passport), while foreigners need passport + visa.
