History of Dawar village
Dawar holds significant historical and cultural importance as the ancient capital of the Dards, the indigenous community of Gurez Valley. The Shina-speaking Dard community belongs to the Indo-Aryan ethnolinguistic group, residing predominantly in Gilgit-Baltistan and Indus Kohistan in Pakistan, as well as in Drass (Ladakh) and the Kishenganga Valley present day Gurez Valley in Jammu and Kashmir.
