Heavy Snowfall Begins Across the Valley
Fresh snowfall began late Thursday night in Gulmarg and other parts of Kashmir, accumulating several inches of snow as a western disturbance affects the region.
Snow has been reported not only in high altitude tourist zones like Gulmarg but also in plain areas including Srinagar, where rain snow mixes are occurring with strong winds.
Due to heavy snow and poor visibility all flight operations at Srinagar Airport are temporarily impacted.
The traffic on Jammu–Srinagar National Highway was halted and the Mughal road, Srinagar to Gulmarg road were also blocked at several locations.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts more significant snowfall across Kashmir Valley and Pir Panjal through the week due to ongoing western disturbances.
