7 Great Alpine Lakes in Kashmir

Gangabal Lake

The alpine, high-altitude oligotrophic Gangabal Lake, also known as Haramukh Ganga, is located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India, near the base of Mount Haramukh. The lake's maximum width is one kilometer, while its maximum length is 2.5 kilometers.

Tarsar Lake

The oligotrophic, almond-shaped Tarsar Lake, also known as Tar Sar, is an alpine lake in Jammu and Kashmir, India's Anantnag district. Tral is located on its southern side while Dachigam National Park is located on its western side. Although Surfraw Ganderbal is the shortest route, it has challenging terrain.

Gadsar Lake

The Gadsar Lake, also called Yemsar, is an alpine high altitude oligotrophic lake in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir Division in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It has an elevation of 3,600 metres, a maximum length of 0.85 km and maximum width of 0.76 km

Marsar  Lake

Situated in the Aru valley of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, India, lies the oligotrophic alpine lake known as Marsar Lake. It is in Pahalgam, adjacent to the Aru Valley. The lake and Tarsar Lake, another lake of the same type, are divided by a mountain that has a minimum peak elevation of 4,000 meters.

Vishansar Lake

At 3,710 meters above sea level, the alpine high-elevation oligotrophic Vishansar Lake is located close to Sonamarg in the Ganderbal region of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Its maximum width is 0.6 km, and its maximum length is 1 km.

Kishansar  Lake

At 3,710 meters above sea level, the alpine high elevation oligotrophic Krishansar Lake is located close to Sonamarg in the Ganderbal region of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Its maximum length is 0.95 km, and its maximum width is 0.6 km. It is situated less than one kilometer northwest of Vishansar Lake.

Tulian lake

An alpine lake called Tulian Lake is situated in Jammu and Kashmir, India's Anantnag district, close to Pahalgam. Situated 16 kilometers southwest of Pahalgam and 11 kilometers from Baisaran, it is 3,684 meters above sea level. There are frequently ice chunks floating in the lake.
